Classes

Adventurers hold many titles, but none so prominent as their classifications (classes). While a title may be specific, it reveals little of what or how an adventurer operates. A title hints at the power source of the person, but cannot pinpoint the distinctive characteristics that a class can. For example, it is unclear from where Dominick the Crimson Magus gleans his power. Does it come from years of focused arcane study? Perhaps it’s innate in his blood? Or does a dark patron grant him his power? A class explains the basic workings of the adventurer in a way understood by the general public; in this case, wizard, sorcerer, and warlock fit the bill. Although Crimson Magus is more specific, it offers no clear-cut description for the general public. Overall, classes are a point of pride, and many apprentices strive to be considered to be a part of that group. Once they are within that group, they can distinguish themselves within it. ~ Dominick Redding, Crimson Magus and Scholar of the Owl Eye
